Wednesday August 23, 12:17 AM Man smuggling Subutex in anus caught at Woodlands Checkpoint SINGAPORE : A 45-year-old suspect who tried to smuggle Subutex tablets in his anus was arrested at Woodlands Checkpoint. Central Narcotics Bureau officers arrested the man who was behaving nervously at the bus arrival hall on Monday night. They found a tube, which contained seven Subutex tablets and 23 other tablets believed to be controlled drugs, lodged in his anus. A raid at the suspect's Tampines residence revealed more drugs. time flies and my first term of my studies is over, which means my exams are finished too. actually they ended more than a week ago and my 2nd term will commence this week, but being the less-than-dedicated blogger i am, i always end up blogging abt stuff that happened a while ago. not because i have no access to the internet, but because i blog only when i feel like it. what's new anyway: i found a new job!!!!! i fooking found a new job!!!!!! i've been ranting about my current job since the beginning of this blog and yes, after more than 1 year, whateverstreet finally managed to get some big company to adopt her, based on her sincerity and positive attitude. relevant experience not a lot but they decided to recruit her all the same. so those of you who are still unsure about switches in careers, i hope this is encouraging for you. during the interview, when you display confidence, a keen interest and positive attitude about learning, somewhere some company in your area of interest will be glad to have you. maybe my hierarchy is still pretty low, so it's rather easy to switch. but at least these few interview tips that i tried brainwashing myself with worked fine. and i am posting at this time because today is my last day and i'm slacking and thinking what else i have not handed over to the assistant that joined us even before i submitted my resume for the job application. nice. maybe i wont have time to blog at all over at my new work place. and i better not have this kind of time lor.

now i know why like this le.....

so miyagi has quit as well. good. very good decision. but as opposed to so many comments that were made against TODAY, i would rather want to applaud TODAY for at least having the initiative to try to bridge mainstream media and alternative media, no matter how short-lived it is. after all i bet the decision to suspend(now is confirmed fire)mb is not from TODAY, but from the higher authorities, who used TODAY as the media since it is the media that both mb and miyagi were invited to write for. *shivers* in the end it seems mainstream and alternative are meant to stay the way it is. see lor, now another attempt by STOMP to try to bridge alternative and mainstream again. but this time round ST very clever, all these do online so that there wont be black and white articles on "carbonated" paper, and easier to adjust a lot of things. and hor, now i know why mb, miyagi and mr wang are not among the star bloggers le.

italy (one big seed)

big seed it is, materazzi tried to be funny with zidane, that got zidane to show him his metal-head skill. some said the former tried to squeeze his nipples, some articles reported that fistfuls of his shirt were being grabbed. bad, very bad. not the final it should be. like what i said the last time, championship quality match should be like the germany argentina match. this final, although italy won, watching with sleepy eyes already made me feel it was rather crappy to watch. no doubt there were fine moments here and there, but it just couldnt match up to the germany-argentina match. and because of the ill-luck that i tend to bring upon whatever team i rooted for during penalty shootouts, i only watched 90mins of this final. only to know the next morning that not only have i managed to avoid bringing ill-luck to italy, i've also missed out some good action. *let lim peh show u what is very-big-seed to your one-big-seed* either materazzi is a bloody faker, or zidane has attained enlightenment in his metal-head skill. unsatisfying. the world cup theme songs are good this time round though. at least i like them a lot better than this final.

i was just browsing through STOMP, then....

whoot whoot, sounds so shud shud like that. it's cool, it's trendy, it's style, it's *more words to suggest young & hip*.....it's Straits Times Online Mobile Print. quite hard to miss this STOMP stuff, so i took a look at it. interesting news tips from the everyday people like me and you. whoa. then i click on the star blog. nice looking bloggers are on the poster.especially dawn who is still gorgeous, if not more gorgeous than before. the photo really is flattering. *continues to drool over dawn* *continues to scroll around everywhere in the webby.hmmm, something like lacking somewhere leh...social issues, crimes, food, partying, etc. eh, why no current affairs arh? scared they might make STOMP look uninteresting, unhip and heavy? but didnt the government mention one time that the younger generation of singapore seem to have a worrying lack of interest in politics and current affairs? isn't STOMP the perfect platform to introduce politics and current affairs to them and older viewers alike? can use more star bloggers like mr wang, mr miyagi and/or mr brown mah. then yah hor, why don't have mr wang, mr miyagi and/or mr brown as star bloggers arh? why ah? why ah? cos they not young or the ST peeps are scared they will upstage STOMP? i know you guys also know they have a lot of knowledge to offer, and they so far sure ain't been stingy in sharing what they know over their blogs. be it current affairs, political issues and social issues as well. so why not them too? *roves over to mrbrown* *gasp* his column is suspended. simi? *reads his article and the letter from mr K* ok lah, don't say i biased against mr k's view so fast ah. mb's wisecrack about the contactless chip does sound a bit like suan-siao-ing away, but hello, his progress package take is really reflective of average singaporeans' situations mah. i still remembered my lao-peh told me he got friends who were given more than $1k that is supposedly to be given to us as a token for "part of the economy's growth"---took the $$ up to genting and hiong at the casinos. then as for me, i took it as part of my further education's expenses. and there are others who really use it to satisfy their material needs as well. it's fine you know, it's not that singaporeans are not appreciative of the package, but under the progress package overview, yes, there are rebates, but limited period only leh....simple maths will show that the upcoming price increases multiplied by the amount of usage will very fast > rebates for the past few months. mr K mentions "These were precisely the reasons for the Progress Package — to help lower income Singaporeans cope with higher costs of living." he forgot to mention "for months at least" lor. unless my comprehension of this is salah, then ok lor, what i have said is bullshit then. i remember there was one time when we took the $$ from our government was when GST increased to 5%. then very good lor, this time round we got the progress package before "...price increases in electricity tariffs and taxi fares are the inevitable result of higher oil prices". like this then how? splurge the progress package le, no more rebates le. i mean ok, fine, prices are not going to rocket. if we need to take the cab, we need to take lor, pay a few dollars extra only. or don't take cab lor, get out of the house a bit early, rise and shine, smell the lovely concrete morning mist while taking buses and the MRT lor. PRAY HARD BUS FARES AND MRT FARES DON'T RISE SO FAST ALSO LOR. we need to use electricity, we need to use lor. we cannot do anything about it mah. salaries are not increasing in proportion. then we have to save from other areas of expenditure for rising necessities. grumble also like that. what mb does over his column is to reflect the average' singaporean's mindset, tinged with cynicism. then mr K says "But opinions which are widely circulated in a regular column in a serious newspaper should meet higher standards. Instead of a diatribe mr brown should offer constructive criticism and alternatives. And he should come out from behind his pseudonym to defend his views openly." constructive criticism and alternatives? yah i agree. mb should do that. but how can we be sure that any criticism and alternatives in a constructive manner offered to the government won't be seen as challenging the government's authority or in the case of mb, what if he is interpreted by people with ulterior motives as an attempt to try to look smarter than the government? hmmm? not safer to play the role of an average singaporean meh? i don't know what is means testing, but from mr K's view "As for means testing for special school fees, we understand mr brown's disappointment as the father of an autistic child. However, with means testing, we can devote more resources to families who need more help", in this statement, he is addressing to mb as an average singaporean. this is fine, really. parents in the same plight as mb will feel the same way with the increase in their kids' school fees. ok lor, like this then like this lor. in his next paragraph "mr brown's views on all these issues distort the truth. They are polemics dressed up as analysis, blaming the Government for all that he is unhappy with. He offers no alternatives or solutions. His piece is calculated to encourage cynicism and despondency, which can only make things worse, not better, for those he professes to sympathise with." where is the distortion i can't see. if the people are already cynical by themselves, THEY DON'T NEED AVERAGE SINGAPOREAN MB TO ENCOURAGE CYNICISM AND DESPONDENCY. since when is reflection a synonym for encouragement? if the people love the government and are at peace with their issues so far, THEY ALSO DON'T NEED AVERAGE SINGAPOREAN MB TO ENCOURAGE CYNICISM AND DESPONDENCY. and for god's sake, what the fuck is polemics? i do proclaim myself as having an average vocabulary grasp in english, and i don't understand the word "polemics". let me go refer to dictionary: 1)A controversial argument, especially one refuting or attacking a specific opinion or doctrine. 2) A person engaged in or inclined to controversy, argument, or refutation. maybe mr K faces a word count limit, but replacing polemics with "controversial arguments" makes things a whole lot easier to comprehend for us. the average singaporean will not know the word polemics, can? like this i feel that he is trying to impress us with big words like this, that he is on fair ground, if not higher ground than his opponent mb. if mb's views are controversial arguments dressed up as analysis, then mr K's views in his reply are condescending assaults dressed up as evaluations. i don't know which party is worse leh. i honestly don't care whether mb will get his column unsuspended, cos i don't read TODAY. and under this sort of circumstances, i think it's better for him to not write for TODAY anymore. REMAIN IN THE ALTERNATIVE STREAM, DON'T DABBLE WITH THE MAIN STREAM ANYMORE. then i wonder if the same grumblings were to come from a faceless singaporean, will TODAY even publish it and if it does, will mr K address them in a favourable light or not. like this very jialat leh , so sensitive how can? i mean it's not like mb is influential enough, or even campaigning to brainwash singaporeans to hold rallies or what in the same manner as some other countries' people lor. an article like this can evoke such reaction from MICA very good liao lor, let us continue to be laughed at by other nationalities for being too uptight all over again lor.

10 world cup reflective shots

1) i love argentina's style of play in that 6-0 match. 2) england puts me to sleep 3) i didnt watch any italy and brazil match 4) cristiano ronaldo is good with his feet, but i hate his one-man-show style, and he pissed all england fans off with rooney's red card. yeah yeah media reports say they kissed and made up after tt, my foot. he blatantly disregards the fact that he is with manchester united and he is acting as if rooney stepped on HIS groin. of course portugal should make noise with rooney's step, but cristiano ronaldo should not be the one portugal player to step forward to kick up the fuss. guess his tendency to like to do one-man-show surfaced at that moment again. 5) germany pissed me off only because they got argentina out with penalty shootouts. their goalkeeper is good, of course. but argentina is the better team during play. but too bad these 2 champion-quality teams had to meet so early at quarter-finals. and only one can proceed. 6) i am an england supporter cos i know 95% of the players from EPL. all star players, but fail to come together as a team. disappointment. 7) lampard and gerrard's penalty shots = lampa and jialat 8) hail argentina 9) hail italy 10) boo england

1,2,3 idols not enough

i've never been into those idol and superstar shows a lot. only enough to know how taufik looks like, how sylvester, wei lian, the pan jia li, hong jun yang and his that sweet looking girlfriend dunno-wat-name and shi xin hui look like. like that i think quite not bad for me already. and just when the jun yang guy comes out with his own album, the coming singapore idol is well under way into i-dunno-which-round. just when the PREVIOUS stars stars idols idols finalists step their foot into getting their names out on the music cds that you buy and i buy, the search for new faces is hard on again. singapore got so hard-up on talents for our local entertainment scene meh? i was musing. the last batch of stars stars idols idols haben even warmed the tv sets, haben even planted enough ear worms through the radio sets, our blind producers also want to copy the western counterpart in having the next singapore idol so soon. ok lah, maybe during the season where the stars stars idols idols' faces were always seen on tv, they manage to create some sort of impression on many, including me who don't even watch local tv much. even though we know singapore only have that few faces to remember and they might still be fresh in our memories somehow, but i feel that they are somewhat in the process of disappearing. surely this is not the way to cultivate our young local talents? if having faces come and go is supposed to spice up the scene, it is a damn wasteful method lor i think. singapore only how big, i think only the US is still doing pretty successful sequels of american idol, the rest who had caught up with the idol fever for that one time seemed to have abandoned ship already. i might be wrong, maybe there is still australian idol or whatever idol elsewhere i didnt bother to follow up, but the underlying idea is: global idol fever has reduced to lukewarm, and i figured they are more keen on following up with watching THE american idol rather than come up with their own idols that probably didn't and knew won't last long too. it seems like only our sunny little island is still hardcore on these stuff apparently. what was the passing fad is still siao-on in singapore entertainment industry, no wonder it hasn't made much progress. like this hor very sad case one.

Smap-Nagori Yuki
i like this performance lots. usually there will be glitches now and then, but this is almost perfect.
